Virus replication in Bacteriophage in botany department
VIRUS REPLICATION
IN BACTERIOPHAGE
- Virus are cellular , non- cytoplasmic obligate parasite.
-
Dmitri lvanovsky 1892 1st
discover virous.
TYPES OF VIRUS---
-Their are 3 types,
1.Animal virus
2.
Plant virus
3.
Bacteriophage
1. ANIMAL VIRUS
- The virus which infect and live inside the animal cell ,including man are called as animal virus.
- Their
genetic material is RNA or DNA.
EX-
influenza virus , rabies cirus etc.
2. PLANT VIRUS
- The
virus thats infects the plant are called as plant
virus.
- The
genetic material is RNA, but it remains present in protin cort.
EX-
tobacco amsic virus , potato virus etc.
-The
virus which infect the bacterial cell is called as bacteriophage .
-The
genetic material DNA.
- The
replication in bacteriophage is 2 types name as,
A. LYTIC CYCLE OF BACTERIOPHAGE
- Lytic
cycle complited in following 6 following steps,
1. ABSORPTION
- The
virous become attached to the host body (bacteria cell) at this stage.
-
Bacteriophage attached in active site in cell wall of host body .
2. PENETRATION
- In
stage of penetration , bacteriophage tail penetrate the host body by the help
of lysozyme.
-
Lysozyme help to the break the cell wall.
- Head part
of the bacteriophage out side the host body.
3. UNCOATING
- The
virual capside is remove and degraded by
host enzyme by releasing the nuleic acid.
4. REPLICATION
- The
replication mechanism depends on the viral genome.
- For
some RNA virus , the infecting RNA produuces messenger RNA (mRNA ) .
- This
is translation and protein produce.
- For
other with negetive stranded RNA and DNA
, viruses are produced by
transcription then translation.
- The
mRNA is used to host cell to produce virus components.
- The
virus components are DNA and protein.
5. MATURATION AND ASSEMBLY OF VIRUS CAPSIDS
-Inside
the host body , there is assemble of new capsids protein and DNA and to produce
new doughter bacteriophages.
6. RELEASE
-
Finaly the bacterial cell fully composed of doughter viruses (Bacteriophage)
and brust the bacteria cell and released the outside.
- About
25 minutes 200 new bacteriophage are produce.
B. LYSOGENIC CYCLE OF BACTERIOPHAGE
-
Bacteriophage attached with a host body and released DNA into the host body.(In
case of lytic cycle)
-The Phage DNA in the host cell integrates with
bacteriophage DNA it is called as prophage.
-The prophage replicates with the host DNA and
get cell division .
- The
viral DNA and bacterial DNA is separated
, this prosses is called induction .
-
Lysogenic bacteria resistant to infection but in case the lysogenic cycle
entair to the lytic cycle the host body get infected.
